TimeShift Release Date…Well, Shifted To 2007
Sorry, kids, but the FPS that Vivendi has promised may take until 2007 before we will be able to get our hands on it. According to the PR Manager for Vivendi, Bennett Ring, the delay was due to a decision to invest more time and resources into the title in order for it to “fulfill its potential”.
TimeShift was originally announced at E3 2006, and the game revolves around renowned test pilot Michael Swift who has been granted with the privilege to be the first person to test out new time-travelling technology. After successfully jumping out to 1911, he comes back to find that the future has been completely changed into a world that has been taken over by an evil dictator. He then joins the resistance, and starts using his slow-down, freeze and rewind abilities to help the people’s cause.
Though there’s no word yet on what exactly the developers still need to work on, they are promising that TimeShift would “become a stand out FPS franchise”. Though numerous hands-on previews for this work in progress have been made, whether the final product will be worth the wait remains to be seen.
