Tomb Raider Anniversary takes top slot
Eidos Interactive has announced that the much hyped remake, Tomb Raider Anniversary, has taken the top slot in a number of EU territories on both the PlayStation 2 and PC format charts. In the UK, the game is still at first place, and is a bestseller for the second week since it was released on June 1. The remake of the original 1996 game is also number one in Germany and France.
Given the warm welcome the game has received from the critics, and the game’s faithful return to what people loved about the Tomb Raider franchise, this boost in sales isn’t surprising. As Eurogamer’s Kristan Reed said in his review of the game, this “celebratory remake” managed to improve on the original, without taking away what made it special.
We’re now a bit curious as to how well the PSP version of the game fared in the EU. We’ll update you about that as soon as we find the numbers.
