Toriyama on FFXIII: Lightning is lead character, online play possible
In an interview with the Australian Official Official PlayStation Magazine or OPM)”>PlayStation Magazine, game director Motomu Toriyama gave some pretty interesting details about Square Enix‘s Final Fantasy XIII games. Lightning has been confirmed as the main character in FFXIII, but not much was given about her past or her personality. Toriyama was as hush-hush about Lighting as Lightning is about herself in the game. He also mentioned that they will be deliberately introducing the rest of the characters in a certain order.
There’s the possibility of making minigames in Final Fantasy XIII, but they might end up as full game releases. Toriyama was also asked whether the game will be utilizing the PS3’s other features like the Blu-ray disc format and the PlayStation Network, and he replied by saying that the PS3’s high-definition capabilities were most crucial in the development of the game. He also said that the devs are contemplating on the PS3’s online functions.
When asked about what makes FFXIII different from the previous games, the director cited the major difference in the Active Time Battle (ATB) system of this video game and of the previous ones. The ATB has been “sped up to its limit” which means a drastic increase in the pace of battles in the FFXIII.
No details were given about the other Fabula Nova Crystallis games since they were not mentioned in the interview. Toriyama also didn’t give a specific release date for Final Fantasy XIII.
