It’s time once more to check what sort of rumors are being circulated around today’s video game industry, and this update’s about Toshiba responding to its alleged involvement in making a new model of the Microsoft Xbox 360. What’s so special about this model, you ask? The fact that it will have a built-in HD-DVD drive, as well as heap of extras that’s sure to put the pressure on the competition.

So, does Toshiba deny or confirm the rumor? Neither. Instead, Toshiba released a statement through one of its spokespeople, one that really reads as cryptic. The statement, unedited and taken as is: “Toshiba has no comment to make on this matter. The Xbox 360 is not a Toshiba product.”

Giving us Xbox 360 owners a refresher on just what company our consoles of next-gen happy came from aside, this statement is a bit telling. After all, they didn’t really say yes, but they didn’t say no, either – so this could mean that this rumor isn’t quite dead yet, and we’ll have to wait just a little bit longer to find out what Toshiba’s deal is with the Xbox 360. Until then, let’s keep our minds and ears open for anything that could pop up regarding this little console hub-bub.
