Mike Eves, retail marketing executive of the consumer products division in Toshiba, says that HD DVD and Blu-ray will probably end up co-existing together rather than one winning over the other, a kind of a stalemate where the market just has to accommodate both.
Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter once predicted that the ongoing format wars will be a deciding factor in the fate of the next-gen consoles. He’d probably to have rework the theory if Mike Eves’ prediction comes to pass. Eves’ prediction comes after Sony CEO Howard Stringer complained that the format wars ended in a stalemate after Paramount decided to go HD DVD exclusive.
Eves likened the stalemate to buying petrol, saying that its like the age old battle between “petrol versus diesel. Both will probably exist together rather than a single format winning out.”
