Toys ‘R’ Us to clarify confusing Aussie Wii promo
Toys ‘R’ Us HQ in Australia issued official statements to clear up their Wii pre-order promo that generated a lot of confused buzz. According to the company’s campaign, customers who pre-order a Wii with A$ 50 (US$ 37) deposit gets a free game.
Sounds simple enough on paper but the execution didn’t go so smoothly. Do customers get to choose their free game? Is there a list of titles for them to choose from? Is the bundled game chosen by the store?
Some customers were informed by store employees that they will get to choose any game they liked. But some Toys ‘R’ Us customers were told they can only choose from the list of games.
Apparently, Toys ‘R’ Us launched their Wii promo first before working on the details. These will be posted as soon as they are ready according to a store rep. Memo to Toys ‘R’ Us: uh, you’re doing it backwards.
