Travellers Tales’ Richard Earl talks Lego Star Wars

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga - Image 1We’ll be taking a short break from the recent flow of  Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga (Wii, PS3, Xbox 360, DS) gameplay videos to bring in some words from the developers, Travellers Tales (TT).

Richard Earl of TT stated they’re very happy to know that they seem to be perceived to be among the upper echelon of game makers for the Star Wars franchise.

On a related note, Mr. Earl further reiterated on their healthy working relationship with LucasArts. The publisher was reportedly helpful during the production and marketing phase, and were also very open to TT’s own line of humor for the upcoming game.

As for TT’s feelings regarding the expected Wiimote controls:

WeÂ’re very excited that this will be the very first time that players can brandish the wii-mote as if it were a lightsaber!  YouÂ’ll also be able to use the wii-mote to activate some of the other characterÂ’s functions which gives the player a whole new level of control.
With the DS version weÂ’ve built the game from entirely from scratch so as to really take advantage of the little machineÂ’s great functions.  As well as having some DS exclusive mini-games that make use of the stylus & touch screen weÂ’ve also incorporated the touch screen into the normal gameplay.  For example, if you want to use ‘force-pushÂ’ you can do so with a simple flick of your thumb!

Moving on from Lego Star Wars, the developer also injected some info snippets for Lego Batman, and Lego Indiana Jones. As Earl explained, the Batman game is expected to be “a whole lot cooler than the 60s TV show,” and was expected to be out next year (2008). Indiana Jones was expected to come out summer next year as well.

Last on the agenda were TT’s future plans. The dev studio stated that they currently have no plans for creating new IP at the moment, explaining that doing so was often the downfall of several successful developers.
