Tsutomu Kouno drops clues as to his Loco Roco’s sequel
Loco Roco creator Tsutomu Kouno appeared at the Nordic Game Conference and provided an insightful walk-through on his conception and design of the original blobs of joy.
He revealed that getting his bosses to approve the colorful blobs to come to life on the PlayStation Portable wasn’t an easy journey. He had to present the idea thrice, first as a PowerPoint presentation, then as drawings, and finally, as a demo. It wasn’t only until his third attempt that the executives really started taking notes of his concept game.
But Kouno did not only take the audience to a trip down his Loco Roco memory lane. He also gave away details for the much a-buzzed sequel of the game, and in fact, was sure that he would be “scolded” for slipping out that much information.
Clues were few, but what was clear was that he was guaranteeing that the new Loco Roco will be seeing “new gameplay based on physical calculation and crowd AI as well as a few surprises.”
