Turrican to return on PS3?
It seems that some old-school love may be in store for the PS3. In an interview with Game Informer, Factor 5 boss Julian Eggebrecht says that although the company’s much-talked-about-but-never-quite-became-a-reality GameCube title Thornado is officially dead, the old Commodore crowd along with other old-school gamers might actually be seeing a new Turrican game for the PS3. Here’s the Eggebrecht quote, straight from Game Informer:
What we are thinking about is basically with the PS3 is going back to our old Turrican games, and basically, finally doing something like that but in 3D. That’s finally going through.
Eggebrecht also hinted that previous titles in the Turrican series (I’ve only played the SNES version myself) may be re-released through the PS3 Store’s e-Distribution Initiative service. “The network platform is open to everybody, so there are other routes of releasing that content on network platform, and IÂ’m sure that itÂ’s going to come,” he said. “We have been in some talks about re-releasing some of our old Turrican titles for the platform, but nothing’s been finished yet. I’d love to do it.”
