Two new DVD/HDD recorders record directly to PSP…
April 10, 2006

Sony has just announced two new additions to their DVD/HDD recorders. These two do pack a punch though, the new additions to the RDZ family, the RDZ-D97A and the 77A have a massive 400Gb or 250GB respectively, and one digital Hi-Vision tuner and TWO analog tuners, meaning you can record three inputs at once! One of the points that we are interested in are though, is the fact that they record directly to your PSP so you can watch your broadcasts on the move. Also both implement DTCP-IP (Digital Transmission Content Protection over IP) which means that you can now legally stream content to other media outputs around your house on your home network. Sony have also released a third box, the RDZ087 which has a 500GB HDD however it lacks the ability to record to PSP and also has no DTCP-IP support. They are expected to be released on May 19 in Japan, who will also benefit from the 1080i recording through digital Hi-Vision.
