Two wacky Disgaea Portable video ads

We had to cap this from the game's official site.

God, I love Japanese video game ads. They know how to make us laugh. I remember a couple of Ace Combat ads myself: one for Ace Combat 2 featured executives chasing each other while holding model airplanes. Then there was this ad – I forget which FPS title it was – which had them salarymen doing the Counter-strike thing through the streets of Tokyo, while armed with water guns. Hi-la-ri-ous.

And now these two, for the upcoming tactical RPG title Disgaea Portable by Nippon Ichi, from the official site. If you need a refresher, Disgaea, which made its appearance on the PS2 with Hour of Darkness and Cursed Memories, is a Final Fantasy Tactics-like title known for its over-the-top gameplay, as well as its gags and parodies. With ads like these, it looks like Portable will live up to the humorous legacy of its console forebears.

Or at least to a legacy of wacky Japanese video game ads. Hope your Japanese is up to scratch.

(Note: the “names” to these trailers were provided by the author to this article, and not by Nippon Ichi. Hey, I had to call it something, right?)
