Ubisoft Brings Splinter Cell: Double Agent to the Wii on Launch Day

Splinter Cell Double Agent

Apparently, Ubisoft‘s dedication to the Wii knows no boundaries. In addition to the seven titles already planned for the Wii launch, Ubisoft just announced that they’re bringing Splinter Cell: Double Agent to the table as well – yes, that’s on launch!

Tony Key, vice president of marketing at Ubisoft commented: “The Splinter Cell franchise has always translated very well across multiple platforms and we are confident that the Wii version will continue the tradition of maximizing the capabilities of each respective video game console platform.”

It seems the Wii version of Double Agent will be based on the PS2/GameCube builds, with some visual and gameplay-related improvements. While some of the missions included in the Xbox 360 version will be missing, Ubisoft promises to take full advantage of the Wii controls, with the Wiimote and nunchuck in use. No further details how the game will play with these controls are yet known, since Ubisoft is still hard at work testing the new scheme.

With a release in the launch window, Ubisoft probably couldn’t find the time to include online features, however, additional downloadable content is promised via the WiiConnect24 service later on.

You can check out some of the first screens below – we’ll get back to you with more information as soon as we get it.
