Ubisoft Revenues Skyrocket
Ubisoft has released its financial results for the first quarter of the year and the Montreal-based publisher registered a 62% gain in revenues compared to the results of 2005’s last quarter. This is an increase to $70 million, $10 million more than what was expected by the company.
The publisher attributes these results to the success of PC and Xbox 360 software, mainly Heroes Of Might And Magic V and Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. The latter in particular turned out to be the best-selling game for the Xbox 360 in 2006. Ubisoft was able to achieve a strong outcome in North America, where sales were the cause for almost half of the company’s total revenue, 49% to be exact.
Ubisoft founder and CEO Yves Guillemot commented: “We are also pleased to note the spectacular launch of the Nintendo DS Lite and the solid performance of the Xbox 360 in the American market, a trend which bodes well for the coming upturn of the video games market.”
As the publisher of upcoming titles like Pirates of the Carribean 2, Open Season and Enchanted Arms, Ubisoft expects to drive up finances even more in the second quarter. And the third quarter should continue to provide the publisher with good, if not spectacular sales, as Tom ClancyÂ’s Splinter Cell Double Agent, Rayman Raving Rabbids, Red Steel, and Tom ClancyÂ’s Rainbow Six Vegas get released.
