Ubisoft’s Guillemot about Nintendo’s profitability to third-party publishers
Ubisoft president Yves Guillemot praises Nintendo for helping Ubisoft expand its business, and states that they will have more Nintendo-quality games for the Wii. That’s going to be something worth waiting for, especially if that translates to having the rumored Assassin’s Creed Wii title.

After Yves Guillemot‘s statement comparing games development between PS3 and Xbox 360, Ubisoft has another statement coming up, and this time its about their envisioned success with Nintendo’s consoles, Wii and DS. Ubisoft’s president praised Nintendo’s mass market strategy, saying that it is also profitable for all third-party publishers.
Ubisoft now has about a Wii-dedicated staff of around 400 to 500 people, and Guillemot is confident they will attain Nintendo-like quality games for the Wii. Does this include the rumored Assassin’s Creed for the waggly console? Please say it’s true.
As for the DS, Guillemot acknowledges Nintendo’s handheld for its role in expanding Ubisoft’s business. Compared to next-gen consoles, the DS only needs to sell 100,000 units to attain profit, compared to 1.3 million units for the PS3 or Xbox 360.
