UK clamoring for PS3 price cut
The UK games industry is clamoring to see a price cut for the PlayStation 3 this coming holiday season, supposedly the peak season for game sales.
Asda‘s Duncan Cross, head of the supermarket giant’s games department, said, “The US have got a [price] cut and weÂ’ve got the games bundle but itÂ’s just not the same. I think the console needs an extra something to really get it up to full speed.”
Although there are mixed opinions coming in from retailers and publishers alike, the consensus seems to be in favor for a price cut for the region. The only issue that seems to arise is the timing of the price cut.
On one hand, the starter pack is still selling so there’s no need of a price cut as of yet but it can’t hold up forever. On the other hand, a price cut doubled the sales in the US and an increase in sales of that magnitude would push game developers in Sony‘s direction.
If the UK does get it’s price cut though, we may soon hear more about the rumors on Europe‘s Starter Pack hitting the same road Australia‘s did.
