Sony has announced that the UMD has now been approved by Ecma International as a standard format. The Ecma was founded in 1961 and dedicated to the standardization of information and communication systems. Anylysts have said that the latest approval should encourage movie and music distributors to publish more titles in the UMD format. With any luck, we should see more movies start rolling out on the UMD!!
