Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune blood free on Japanese PS3?
Some owners of Japanese PlayStation 3 units have noticed that when playing Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune blood disappears. Blood spots that litter the screen when getting shot are gone, and enemies don’t spew the red liquid even after you spray lead on them. Find a video of this in action at the full article.
It’s a little known fact that Sony PlayStation 3 units from Japan censor certain games regardless of region coding. One example is Insomniac Games’ Resistance: Fall of Man, which blood was removed when played on a console from the land of the rising sun. According to some Japanese PS3 owners, even recently released Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune by Naughty Dog gets more tame when played on Japanese hardware.
In the video below, YouTube user Undeadbokun captured his observations and noted the differences found when playing a U.S. version of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune on a Japan-released Sony PS3. Apparently, getting shot won’t cause red spots to appear on screen, and shooting the bad guys won’t make them spill blood.
Undeadbokun didn’t miss out on the detail that there are no options to turn blood on or off. See Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune running on a Japanese PS3 yourself by watching the embed below.
