The main change for Mod SDK v5.0 after the jump!
Electronic Arts recently announced a new update for their Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars mod software development kit. This updated version 5.0 kit adds an important fix to civilian assets, and should be rather useful for map modders and module makers out there.
Here’s the main change, as explained by EA:
There is only one major new feature and that is a fix to the Civilian Asset issue. This fixes up references to assets that are only located in our World Builder stream. This issue prevented modders from being able to use these assets in their own maps.
You can now use these assets in your own maps after they are compiled using the new “BuildModCivAsset.bat” program included in the new version of the MOD SDK. You can also modify existing civilian assets or use the existing art assets to create new things for your mod. None of this was possible before.
The mod SDK is around 104 MB in size, so it should take you a while to download. That being said, if you’re using earlier versions of the mod SDK, be sure to upgrade to 5.0 before downloading this update.
