Seargent007 has written a tutorial on how to use your PSP as a portable linux account:

i felt like starting a guide on how to allow people to turn their dull psps into fully functional, on-the-go linux systems ready with any programs for it that you want. already included is firefox, a mail client, and more. it also saves everything like a real system

THIS IS NOT FOR USE ON THE PSP ITSELF, IT MUST BE PLUGGED INTO A PC!!
It also requires at least a 128 mb card.

1.Go to http://www.metropipe.net/ProductsPVPMDownload.shtml and download the file.

2. extract the files onto your psp in a folder in the main directory.

3.(optional) load any linux programs you would like into the ISO in the download.
(i suggest that you just live with what is included, this is complicated and youll be surprised to see how much is already included if you right click)

4.(only if you did step 3) within the app (launch the qemu_win.bat file within the download from the psp) right click and find the proper menu to load the chosen program.

5.(optional) search for a program to make the qemu_win.bat file activate on PC boot for a nice, full screen linux from psp.

6.(optional) find the menu for “install flash” and follow the instructions to enable flash in the included firefox browser.

7.(if you didnt do 5 and 6) when at a PC, run qemu_win.bat from your psp in usb mode and your all set

notice: step 5 is hard to do from any windows below ME/2000
notice #2: to boot this on an already existing linux, replace the qemu_win.bat i always say with boot-linux.bat
notice #3: (only a problem if you do steps 5 and 6) your pc must allow for “boot from usb” to be enabled in the bios to work. See below for instructions on how to do this.

this is not simply a linux to boot from, it can also be used to start already within windows so its as if you have your pc account with you with all your settings already set up.

To enable USB boot: the second your pc boots (have the monitor already on), press the key it says to go into setup on that first black (or blue) screen with all the PC info. Go through the setting and find something like “boot settings”. depending on your bios, you may have to have your psp plugged in and select it for primary boot or there may be an actual box that says “enable USB boot”.
