VC Australia to get Bonk’s Revenge, Battle Lode Runner, and Shockman next week
If you’re from Australia, we bring you news on the the Virtual Console (VC) games you will be getting next week. The three games can be considered classics in their own right, so be sure to at least give them a look over when they do come out.
First up we have Bonk’s Revenge, which was originally released for the TurboGrafx 16 console. This 2D platformer was created back in 1991 by the Red Company for Hudson and Turbo Technologies. This is the second game in the series and has Bonk on a quest to recover half the moon which was stolen by the evil King Drool. It’s campy graphics and intense gameplay has won the hearts of many gamers, so you might want to pick this up.
Up next, we have Battle Lode Runner. This game, originally released on the TurboGrafx 16 follows the Lode Runner games before it in terms of gameplay. However, the big addition in this version of the game are the multiplayer modes, where you can play with up to five players in “deathmatch,” “team deathmatch,” or escape. No word on online play being implemented, but if it were, then this game would be soooo sweet.
Finally we have Shockman which was developed by Hudson Soft and released way back in 1991. The second game in the Kaizou Choujin Schbibinman series, this side-scroller is split between action (on foot) stages and shooting (in ship) stages. Co-op is available in the game where two players share the same lifebar as they progress through the stages.
If any of the games interest you, be sure to log on to the VC store next week to pick it up. More VC updates as they happen.
