VC Update: Shinobi III, Landstalker to be available soon
Heads up, Wii owners – more hack-and-slash retro goodness is heading your way through the Wii’s Virtual Console, and it comes into tasty flavors: Shinobi III and Landstalker. Yep, strap on your treasure hunter armor and don your Ninja mask, you’re about to go into a very action-packed trip down memory lane – as long as you don’t immediately get your legs chopped off by rival treasure hunters, or rival ninjas, or rival treasure hunting ninjas. Whoever gets to you first.
In Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master, you step into the shoes of Joe Musashi, Shinobi and current master of the long-forgotten Oboro Ninjutsu martial arts, as he makes his comeback to once and for all end a corrupt and evil crime syndicate that had sprung back from the shadows.
To combat this encroaching threat that plans to take over the world, you must utilize every weapon in Joe Musashi’s arsenal of deadly ninja techniques wisely and efficiently. The time to flip out and kill everyone is now.
As for Landstalker, you play as sword-swinging, treasure-hunting Nigel, hot on the trail of the legendary treasure of King Nole. Fight, throw, jump and even talk your way to victory and untold riches as you romp through a rich, dungeon-filled world in an isometric view, all the while keeping track of your health, as well as avoiding traps and the efforts of rival treasure hunter Duke Mercator. Prepare to have a fever, with the only cure for it being more treasure!
Certainly two very great additions to any VC enthusiast’s library. No news yet about how many Wii points each will set you back, though, but the Sega Genesis titles always cost around 800 Wii points or so. In any case, updates as we get them!
