Virgin Games announces A World of My Own (AWOMO)
Virgin Games and Game Domain International (GDI) just announced the launch of a new 3D virtual world platform dubbed as A World of My Own (a.k.a. AWOMO).
With this platform, PC gamers all over the world will now be able to download and play games right from their PCs. So no need to go out and buy the retail one, with just a few clicks you can be right in the game. Virgin boss Sir Richard Branson (okay, that didn’t sound right, let me rephrase), Virgin Games’ top honcho, Sir Richard Branson, even went so far as to say that AWOMO will be to PC games as iTunes is to music.
Koch Media is the first publisher to sign up and jump on board, but we can expect more and more companies to start signing up as the development of AWOMO progresses.
GDI is targeting a late 2007 launch date for AWOMO, with a promise that a large selection of games will be made available at launch.
