In countries where cell phones have become an integral part of everyday life like Japan, paying your bills could be done from anywhere as people can transact using their handsets. In the U.S. where mobile services are increasing in popularity by the day, Visa is hoping to cash in by exploring the very same concept.

Tapping services like dotMobi and Qualecomm to establish the technological base of the project, Visa deemed that it was quite feasible to create a secure platform wherein common financial activities such as banking, payments and even shopping can be conducted.

Visa also noted that 57 percent of their clients are actually interested in the service and about 64 percent are willing to consider paying extra to have the handy feature in their mobile phones. Visa hopes to finalize all the groundwork to start the project as early as possible.
