Vista copies already on Chinese shelves

The black market edition - Image 1Itching to get a copy of Windows Vista? Can’t wait until its official release date? Well, Microsoft‘s latest operating system will not be available until the end of this month and China‘s black market is capitalizing on that as early as now…and who knows maybe even earlier.

A website called SteveWDesign mentioned that he recently visited the picturesque country and its controversial black market. And after 20 minutes of window shopping, he found a copy of – you guessed it – Windows Vista the Ultimate Edition.

Originally, Vista Ultimate is listed to have a US$ 399 price tag, but he bought the black market copy for roughly US$ 2.50. The site also mentioned that the version is in Chinese and probably a “Frankenbuild” version. They also speculated that it “combines portions of the beta tests with the final code to create software that is supposed to avoid the shut-down system built into Vista.”

Imagine that. A software that costs millions, maybe even billions, to develop, is being sold this way for that price. I don’t know about most of you, but if ever I get a copy of Vista, I’ll get it the legal way…or maybe I should have just watch some online vids and get it for free, darn!
