Voyage Century Online infested with real pirates (hackers)
This is probably one of the first few problems MMORPG Voyage Century Online is having since it was launched back in April. According to IGG, it has received several reports from players claiming their accounts had been stolen recently.
The company looked into the matter and found out that the culprit are the players themselves using cheating programs. Accordingly, this cheating program (or what the players refer to as assistant software) promises “powerful functions” to protect players’ computers.
But IGG pointed out, a software like this will require players to give out their account and password and the two will be sent to a remote server. This is where and when hacking happens.
There were also some reports saying that a handful of cheaters pose as IGG employees in Voyage Century Online by adding the words “GM” or “IGG” to their usernames. These people then will go around asking players for account name and passwords.
IGG, on the other hand, mentioned that a GM will never ask any player for such information. To put an end to the matter, IGG has released a long list of account security and anti-cheating reminders over at the game’s official site. You can go over there (via the Read link below) and take a look if you feel like your account has been compromised.
