Voyage Century: Pirate MMORPG to sail your way soon

vcNews has just reached our ears that there’s another pirate 3D MMORPG soon to sail our way courtesy of IGG (Internet Gaming Gateway). The game is still currently anchored deep in development (the puns just keep on coming) but IGG reveals to us that Voyage Century will have over 40 cities (including Barcelona, Algiers, Beijing, and Oslo), each with their own scenic spots, culture, and tons of other features.

IGG describes the game as a world traveling game set in the 16th century where you’ll get to choose the role you’d like to take on, such as the ship commander, an explorer, merchant, or even a pirate. The game is said to be in development for more than four years now, and in those four years, they’ve been able to have in the game’s dock more than 30 types of ships designed and modeled after real ones that have been used over the centuries such as depot ships, powerboats, battleships, Merchantman ships, and tons more.

You’ll also get to trade items (or steal ’em, if you choose to be a pirate) from port to port, so you’ll get to swap the treasures you uncovered with the people you encounter in your voyage. It’s also interesting to note that the supply and demand, as well as price fluctuation, of over 130 various items will be based on that of the real world’s. So let’s say the value of rubies in real world suddenly declined, they’ll be updating the game such that the rubies you have in-game will also have lesser value.

Throughout the game, you will find bits and pieces of maps which you’ll have to patch together in order to find undiscovered and/or hidden treasures. And as with other MMORPGs, you can also establish guilds and engage in GvG (guild vs. guild) combat both on land and sea. There’s no announced release date yet for Voyage Century but rest assured we’ll keep you posted for more updates. But to give you a glimpse of the cities and ships to be featured in the game, here are a few screenshots to give you a sneak peek. Enjoy!
