Asked by Develop if he sees FFXIV as a serious rival to WoW‘s throne, Wada answered, “yes, but the flipside is that they are a tough competition.”
Tough or not, Wada is confident that FFXIV‘s position as a sequel will be key to its success because nobody has been able to put out a successful MMO and follow it up with an equally successful sequel.
“WoW is a tough competitor, but whether you are talking about EverQuest, Ultima or Lineage there has never been a company that has a continuously successful number one and two MMO,” he said.
Final Fantasy XIV is slated for release on PS3 and PC.
