Savage - Commander Mode

See, there’s this cool RTS-FPS hybrid called Savage. In Savage, you can either play as a commander of your armies in an RTS mode, killing your enemies with the might of your armies, or as one of your soldiers or beasts, working like a first-person assassin/sniper/clawed monstrosity.

In preparation for Savage 2: A Tortured Soul, S2 Games is now offering the original Savage as a free download. By free, we mean without any cost, and by download we mean the ENTIRE game, plus a user-made game enhancement. Now that’s a great way to advertise an upcoming game… it’s quite unexpected that someone would give out a previous version of a game before they even finished beta-testing the new one.

A couple of notes, though. The full version of Savage: The Battle for Newerth is a Windows-only download, and you’ll have to download the patch/expansion separately. Both are free, however, so it’s not that bad. One other thing you’ll have to remember is that there’s a difference between Savage 2, and Savage 2.00. The first would be the upcoming game, and the other is the patched version of Savage: The Battle for Newerth. In any case, it’s a pretty good free alternative for people who like real-time strategy games and PVP play, so you can safely call it an MMORTSFPSRPG if you wanted. Enjoy!
