Want to make your 360 portable? Hori offers a solution.
You might recognize Hori as the company who brought us the Dead or Alive 4 Arcade Stick that can also be used for much-loved Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA) titles. Now, the company just announced a new creation that has a big potential to make Microsoft’s Xbox 360 portable.
The product is called Compact TFT Monitor EX which is planned for a Japanese release this July. It is actually a 12.1-inch monitor that has the capability to deliver 720p output. The signal will be transmitted from the console to the monitor via analogue RGB while sound will be coming from the stereo speakers below the monitor. If you want, you can even attach headphones to it.
However, we can’t help but express our reservations for this product. The monitor, you see, has a separate power adapter meaning both the product and the console should be plugged in at the same time. And that somewhat hampers its claim on creating a portable experience for Xbox 360 owners.
Despite all our mumbling, we did admit that the product has a lot of potential. There is still no mention if it will be released in other regions. Compact TFT Monitor EX will be priced at 36,750 Yen (US$ 306.96). If you want to know more, the Read link will take you to Hori’s product page. We have to remind you again though, it’s in Japanese.
