Warhound held back, but gets a PS3 port along the way

Warhound - Image 1Techland has officially announced that they will be holding back Warhound, which was originally slated for a December 2008 release on the PC and Xbox 360. On the upside though, we’re getting a PS3 version of this non-linear FPS.

Warhound - Image 1Techland has officially announced that they will be holding back Warhound, which was originally slated for a December 2008 release on the PC and Xbox 360. One of the reasons given behind the delay was apparently some kind of “secret project” Techland’s been working on and will announce very soon.

The other reason for the delay was difficulty getting the Chrome Engine powering Warhound to work on the PlayStation 3.

Yes, that’s right, they’re announcing a PlayStation 3 version of the game. If you’ve been following the development of Warhound you may recall that it was originally slated to only appear in the Xbox and the PC. I suppose that also explains *why* they’re having trouble making a PlayStation 3 version. Games coded for Microsoft systems go notoriously awry when you try porting it into Sony’s console.

If you haven’t heard about Warhound yet, I don’t really blame you. The noise level of this game’s been kinda low. In short, Warhound‘s an FPS that puts you in managerial and logistical control of a mercenary company plying its trade where it can around the globe.

Sounds interesting, but there’s no word yet on the new release date so it’s no use getting excited at this point.
