What economic crisis? Nintendo reports strong sales for Thanksgiving
Here’s some wisdom on the economy from Nintendo prez Satoru Iwata: “When the economy is strong, people tend to buy three things from the top of their wish list. But when things are bad, people often buy only the first thing on their list.”
So all you have to do is own Nintendo, and you’ll have no problem. “Fortunately for us a lot of shoppers put our products at the top of their list.”
While Sony’s struggling to make ends meet, Nintendo‘s still raking in the moolah, big time. Last Thanksgiving, they sold 800,000 Wii consoles in North America alone. This amount is way more than double the 350,000 they sold during the same period last year.
The DS also experienced a lift in sales during Thanksgiving. Sales were up 20% in the US as compared to last year.
Following that, here’s some wisdom on the economy from Nintendo president Satoru Iwata:
When the economy is strong, people tend to buy three things from the top of their wish list. But when things are bad, people often buy only the first thing on their list

If Thanksgiving was able to do so much for Nintendo, Santa’s going to have a rough time this Christmas.
