What to expect from Marvel: Ultimate Alliance with Wii

ghost ridercaptain americairon manC3 was able to get the dibs on the Wii version of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance straight from Evan Skolnick, producer at Vicarious Visions.

The Wii version is actually no different from the versions for the other platforms. The only thing that sets it apart is Wii’s interactive controllers. Some particulars about the game’s design was changed specifically for the control scheme. The Wii version would make the execution of moves easier than having to remember the button combinations.

For the couch potatoes, worry not. You can play with the Wii version without getting tired since the moves actually require only a bit movement. According to Mr. Skolnick, “Players can choose how much they want to “get into it” and fling themselves around the room – after all, it is fun! — but all thatÂ’s generally required are simple flicks of the arm or wrist.” During development, they did a lot of testing to ensure that the game doesn’t cause fatigue.

Online connectivity via an update through WiiConnect24 would be unlikely for now.

The Wii controller was said to have an accuracy of 95% when picking up gestures, though that was only the results they had during testing. Results, of course, may vary.

The challenge with developing a Wii version for Marvel: Ultimate Universe was adapting the controls so the game would be as interactive as possible. Non-gamers were also invited to test the system and the controls were made such that even non-gamers would be able to use the control system.
