What to expect in Warhammer: Age of Reckoning

want a piece of me?EA Mythic has come out with new info about the new fantasy MMORPG Warhammer: Age of Reckoning (WAR), set to be released next year.

Realm vs Realm (RvR) gameplay is based on Dark Age of Camelot and features four levels, instead of just two: skirmish, battlefields, scenarios, and campaign. The guild system is also based on DAoC. The story centers on the war between destruction and order.

There are six races, three under each realm. Those under order are the dwarves, humans, and high elves. On the side of destruction come the greenskins (orcs and goblins), chaos, and dark elves. Each race has a natural enemy: dwarves vs. greenskins, humans vs. chaos, and high elves vs. dark elves.

You can choose between male and female characters, except with the greenskin race where you can either be an orc or a goblin. Each class has four careers to choose from. Every character is unique (the developers made sure of that) in more ways than one. Aside from facial and body customizations, racial features are distinguishable – like orcs getting bigger and dwarves’ beards getting longer. Trophies from corpses (from RvR and monster hunting) can also be proudly displayed on the characters.

Players gain experience both from PvP and RvR. PvP isn’t just for glory and bragging rights, players can get rewards like Renown, WAR‘s rank system. Abilities and items can be taken from corpses of dead players, but they don’t lose items that were taken. Also, there is a set level range for each zone (within about 10 ranks), preventing high level players from picking on newbies and newbies from accidentally – or not – attacking high level players.

PvP death penalty is time, preventing players from respawning then immediately returning into the fray.

There are 33 zones in various terrains except desert. According to the developers, time and weather is still on the works.

Players certainly won’t be bored since Warhammer: Age of Reckoning presents a number of fun options, including monster hunting, going on quests, RvR, conquest for land, conquest for capital cities, looting and pillaging of enemy realms, and nothing short of total destruction.
