Wii and DS get exclusive turtle power
Developer-publisher, Ubisoft took offense two months ago when one of their employees accidentally leaked information regarding their upcoming projects. The list definitely was valuable as it prematurely announced top secret titles including Splinter Cell 4 and 5, Naruto, Lost, and a couple more titles. At the end of that list, quietly sitting and hoping not to get caught, is the game with a codename “TMNT.”
We don’t know if it’s just us. but that one slipped our oftentimes sharp radar and we needed today’s confirmation by Ubisoft. TMNT in case you’re still not getting it, is the legendary Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It’s been a while since we’ve seen the pizza-loving dudes on a videogame. If we remember it right, the turtles were actually Nintendo’s final blow to then close rival Sega.
Unlike the previous titles, Ubisoft Creative Director Nick Harper mentioned that TMNT is not going to be a side-scrolling platform or an arcade beat-em-up. It would be more of a Tomb Raider type of game wherein players are tasked to protect the city by leaping from rooftops, patrolling the sewers, and basically interacting with the whole game environment.
Harper also reminded everyone that a new movie is currently in the works as well. The director highlighted that this is important, as the plot of the game is very much intertwined with that of the movie’s. Aside from those already mentioned, no other details are available for TMNT. The game is expected to be released exclusively on Nintendo machines Wii and DS by Spring of next year.
