Wii and PS3 Amazon Japan preorder stats

Over at the Japanese Amazon site, they have posted up a chart which tracks the pre-order stats for both the Wii and PS3. The one that’s posted up right now at the site shows the Wii-PS3 ratio as of October 4th, and if you look at the chart below, you’ll see that the Wii is still getting the most orders/reservations as compared to both versions (20GB and 60GB) of the PS3.

wii vs. ps3

Japanese analysts (and also the general public, probably) expected that PS3 orders would go up after the TGS announcement of Sony’s price drop for their console but from the looks of it, that’s not exactly the case. However, before the flames and the console wars once again ignite, we should keep in mind that this chart shows the Wii against BOTH versions of the PS3. And also, these are the stats for Japan, for US pre-order stats, we have yet to find out.

Maybe the Japanese population is more of a Nintendo-loving crowd (as we have also seen with all the news that the DS has also outsold the PSP)? But then in an earlier article we featured, the Japanese stats are just about the same for Wii and PS3. So at this point, we’re really not sure. Or perhaps the stats would be different if it were just Wii vs. PS3 (as a whole)? What do you think?
