Wii Chip Orders Up

ATI LogoTalk of Wii launch dates are all around us, but Nintendo won’t tell us anything about it until September. ATI on the other hand hints that it may be sooner than we think. They’re the manufacturers of the chip being  used in the Wii, and the Commercial Times says that ATI’s consumer electronics division was bringing in 20% of their sales this year as opposed to 15% from last year. That’s not all, “Pixart Imaging (PXI), an affiliate of United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) and the remote sensor chipset supplier for the Wii, was cited by the Commercial Times as saying that its shipments may reach a million units in August.” Maybe an October launch isn’t too much to wish for…
