Wii launch at midtown Atlanta EB: “organized and calm”
So the Wii was already launched, and you might have thought all hell would break loose. There was this mental image in my head where throngs of people governed by their Wii-wanting instincts would stampede to their local game retailers come midnight. After all, the PS3 launch wasn’t that quiet, so expecting Wii-crazed fans to arrive in droves is not exactly wishful thinking.
But Flynn de Marco’s Wiixperience in Midtown Atlanta EB proved me wrong.
He and his buddies arrived at the store at 11:30 p.m., but around 11:45 p.m., the doors were opened, and they were greeted by a Link-garbed-female-employee.
He says that the “mood was upbeat and friendly as everyone was very excited to get their Wiis” and “it was very organized and calm with people waiting their turns and being very nice to each other.” Wow. Isn’t that amazing or what?
We’re glad that things went smoothly there. Interestingly, some people attribute the “peaceful launch” to the availability of the console, as opposed to the PS3, which came in limited stocks only.
