Wii repair disc found in the wild?
Here’s an interesting bit of news that Wii owners might want to hear about. Brakken of the TehSkeen website reports that there appears to be a Wii repair disc that’s found its way outside of Nintendo offices and into the wild.
If you’re wondering what’s so special about this disc, it allows the user to restore a Wii to its original factory settings, as well as change some of the internal settings of a Wii unit. More on this after the jump!
We’ve got a bit of news that’s sure to interest the coders out there who love the Wii. Brakken of the TehSkeen website reports that there appears to be a Wii back up disc that’s in the wild.
Apparently, a member of wiidev on IRC/EFNET posted some pictures of what appears to be a Wii repair disc, which they’ve termed “Gay Fish”. The wii back up disc (pictured above) is supposedly used to restore Wiis to their original factory settings, as well as change some of the internal settings on a Wii unit.
Brakken makes a point, noting that this is highly possible that this is true, as the user who posted the screenshot had to have the disc to actually take a picture of it. In any case, we’ll have to wait and see if this rumored disc is actually real or not. In any event, it certainly adds to the excitement of the day, seeing as we also seem to have unsigned code running on the Wii without a modchip.
