Wii Rumors Debunked… Well, Maybe…
Earlier, we reported about the rumored Wii specs from MaxConsole. Somebody from Nintendo’s supposedly given them a list of the Wii’s specs. It seems that MaxConsole came up with a pretty comprehensive list, covering Wii’s external memory, the 729 MHz Broadway CPU as well as the 243 MHz Hollywood CPU, the Optical Disc Drive and some details about the Wii controller.
However, a rumor is still a rumor, so we can’t be sure if those specs are for real. Many other guys seem to be taking a similar standpoint as well. One such example is Jon Hannibal Stokes, who thinks that if those “leaked” Wii specs are accurate, then the Wii would be nothing but a “an overclocked GameCube with a DVD player” and just “a heavily tweaked G3“. No surprise, then, that Stokes thinks that these specs are fake (“My conclusion is that whatever Broadway is, the specs above don’t do it justice.”).
