Wii Tetris v1.2 – game tweaks, source code

Tetris Blocks - Image 1 The Wii Tetris homebrew may have been too good to true when it first came out, it being one of the first homebrew games to come out for the Nintendo Wii. In the previous release, homebrew developer DesktopMan promised to show us the source code, and with version 1.2 of Wii Tetris, he fulfills that promise, and added some nifty improvements to the game. More details after the jump.

Human Tetris by Caleb Gatlin - Image 1The Nintendo Wii homebrew scene receives some old-school love once again with the new version of developer DesktopMan‘s Wii Tetris. Taking off from the first release, version 1.2 now includes the promised source code among other things. Here is the complete changelog of homebrew game Tetris version 1.2:

  • Wii build available
  • Standard Tetris piece specifications
  • Standard Tetris speed specifications
  • Two player tweaks
  • Menu tweaks
  • SD and USB Gecko reload support
  • Instant drop (down button)
  • Rotate in first position
  • Source code

To make the game more interesting and fun, homebrew developer DesktopMan also designed some gameplay bonuses: Score three consecutive lines and you get a bonus line. Align four and get two. For future builds of Wii Tetris, DesktopMan hopes to get  local area network (LAN) and internet code to work. In the meantime, the dev advises us to look for bugs and to check the readme before doing anything.
