Wii Trademark Confirmed
This month there have been some reports (rumors) suggesting that the whole Wii announcement on April 27 was a hoax by Nintendo because there haven’t been any trademarks registered, and they were going to debunk it at E3 next week.
Nintendo itself responded to the rumors saying it took a while for trademarks recently registered to appear in the United States Patent and Trademark Office system. Some “gamers” were hoping that the name Wii was just a big joke by Nintendo, and which they were going to debunk it at E3. Trademarks have been registered for clothing, games obviously, watches and kids toys.
The USPTO shows that there was a priority on the trademark as early as November 11, 2005, which means they really have been thinking about it for a while now.
