Wii Won’t Force DS Lite Production to be Put on Hold
This was Nintendo president Satoru Iwata‘s statement at the previous week’s shareholder meeting. So those who feared that a DS Lite shortage was coming can relax now, as they will be able to grab this handheld anytime.
According to Iwata, the production of Lites will not be affected by the Wii because these two are being produced on “different production lines.” Like most companies out there, Nintendo obviously wants to cash out on the holiday season by providing plenty of these consoles in store shelves by then.
I, for one, am glad to know that Nintendo’s not forgetting about the DS Lite because of the Wii. Sure, the latter’s going to be a great and popular console, but there are still people (like me, perhaps) who want to be able to access games, say, while commuting to work.
