Wiibrew news: Homebrew Channel Beta 9 in development, plans for custom firmware, more
Although there’s no specific release date yet, Team Twiizers has revealed that Beta 9 of the Homebrew Channel is in development! Not only that, but it seems they also have plans for developing a form of custom firmware for the Wii. Details in the full article.

In a recent interview with Marcan of Team Twiizers, it was revealed that a new version of the Homebrew Channel is currently in development. Hold your horses though – Marcan says that no specific release date is set yet, so we have to sit on our hands for a while longer.
So what can we expect from Beta 9 of the Homebrew Channel? Marcan wasn’t too keen on the details – all we know is that there are new features and bug fixes. If Beta 8 is the standard though, I’m pretty excited to see the next one in line.
One reason we may not see the update soon is because the members of the team are involved in different projects. Marcan, for one, is involved in his own project, developing a new anti-brick program for the Wii.
He does reveal that there are also plans for custom firmware for the Wii. Well, not custom firmware in the strictest sense, for as Marcan explains, this could mean some illegal manipulation of code, and Team Twiizers has always been known to avoid legal issues when working with Wii homebrew.
Marcan says that the “custom firmware” may come in the form of patches, which has a number of advantages besides treading around the legal issues. You can read more on it by following the source link below.
