WiiLi needs developers

WiiLiWhen the WiiLi project first appeared on our forums, people were having second thoughts and some doubts on the matter. In case you’ve missed it, WiiLi is not just any other pun. It is actually a “final college project” that aims to boot a Linux desktop off the Wii.

A couple of weeks since then, it seems that the creators are quite serious and are not minding the rather unhelpful comments. Over at their Wiki site, the authors announced today that they are actually looking for more developers to help in the project. Also, the fund raising continues, with the total donations just under US$ 200.

With all the craziness that happened over the last few days, we weren’t able to check if the WiiLi team was able to get a Wii themselves. This is rather important because it matters not how a plan looks good on paper. We need tangibles, we need specifics.

So, does anyone know if they were able to get a console?

At any rate, good luck to the final college project. And we hope the penguin feels comfortable in its new plumber overalls.
