WiiWare’s LostWinds: gameplay details
LostWinds from Frontier Development was one of the first big titles announced for WiiWare. Unfortunately, we’ve heard precious little of it until now. Head on over to the full article for LostWind‘s gameplay details.
We’re pretty excited to play LostWinds, one of the first big titles announced for WiiWare. Not only does it look visually appealing, but it sounds fun as well, what with their tagline: “the power of wind in the palm of your hand.”
We’ve heard precious little about the game until now, in a new interview with the producer of the game, David Braben. In the interview, he explains the game’s control system and how we’ll be using the wind to manipulate the world of Mistralis.
In LostWinds, the main character, Tuku, will be controlled using the Nunchuk. Essentially he’s just an ordinary little boy who is transporting the wind spirit Enril, who is trapped in a Spirit Stone. To control Enril himself, gamers will be using the Wiimote.
Enril can control the wind of a localized area around the Spirit Stone he is trapped in. Using the Wiimote, players can manipulate the wind to affect the world. For example, you can blow flames into enemies, or blow water unto soil to grow seeds.
Of course, you’ll also be disposing of your enemies using the wind. One way is to suspend enemies in a vortex and then smashing it onto the ground. In the words of Braben, it’s “very satisfying.”
