Will Wii Be Castlevania’s New Fort?

Back in May, Koji Igarashi, Castlevania producer, said that the game does not fit the Wii format. According to him, the Wii market is for those who want to have new experience, and having a lengthy game like Castlevania on board seems to be a glaring misfit.

Fast forward to this month and you could hear, oh, so faintly, Igarashi singing to a different tune. Dropping the unquestionable tone of rejection of Castlevania on Wii, he now has talked to Nintendo Europe and has actually given a more positive outlook on the game’s Wii format.

“We still can’t think about anything other than this DS version (Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin) because we are so busy, but of course we would like to think of something interesting and pleasant for Wii. I have some ideas for Castlevania for Wii.”

Hmmm…while that doesn’t reveal much, it’s certainly a more pleasant statement than last May’s “I don’t have a good idea how to make use of the Wii controller in the game.”

We’ll keep you posted for more scoops on this one.
