Will Wright’s Spore to hit Macs and PCs at same time
Previously revealed for the Nintendo Wii, and now for the Apple gaming community. Will Wright and Electronic Arts seem to be honoring an age-old, Sims-esque tradition for releases, making sure that the evolution, strategy game also heads on over to fans of Sims and Wright in the Apple side of the personal computer equation. Luckily, they also plan to release Spore on both the PC and Mac versions at the same time.
Like Will Wright‘s The Sims franchise years ago, the much-awaited Spore will be hitting both long-established personal computer platforms. This comes with official backing, as news from the press waves recently marked Electronic Arts‘ Spore for a simultaneous release on both segments this 2008.
“We couldnÂ’t be happier to bring Spore to the Mac at the same time as the PC version,” said Will Wright himself, the chief designer of Spore. The Mac would be the latest addition to Spore‘s rather peculiar multi-platform release effort – the previous being the only next-gen platform release on the Nintendo Wii. The Nintendo DS and mobile gaming devices are also target release platforms.
Unfortunately, the announcement still hasn’t nailed down when Spore will be available on retail shelves. But some may think that a time period of roughly six months time since October 2007 and hints of a March 3, 2008 release seem pretty consistent, so keep your eyes peeled for updates in the near future. There’s bound to be more at the upcoming Game Developers Conference in San Francisco this February 2008.
