Work in progress: GC/Wii Disc dumper

MaxConsole forums poster emu_kidid informs in a recent post that he has started to work on a GameCube/Wii Disc dumper which will only require a “Wii and a SD Gecko + SD Card (plus a way to boot .dol files).”

He says that he has it partially coded already, and informs that it will be as easy as booting the DOL either by DVD or AR and dumping the game to SD card. He says that despite the 4.7GB size of games, his program can calculate your SD card size and then split the game accordingly. He claims that it’ll work on GC and Wii consoles, and will be capable of dumping GC and Wii Games.

However, despite his progress, he informs that in his attempt to hardwire an SD card adapter into his Gamecube, he was left with a dead SD card. Consequently he’s asking if anyone has an SD gecko for sale/donation or an SD card that they’re willing to contribute to his project.

Will emu_kidid’s project turn out to be more efficient than previous 50 hour dumping processes? Time will tell.
