Work is done for Gears of War lead designer
It is such a crime if you don’t know when Gears of War would be released. So before you get accused of anything, please know that November 7 is the date. Ssshh, you didn’t hear that from us. Despite knowing this, it is always good to know how our third-person tactical action-horror game is doing.
Just a few days ago in his very journal, Epic Games‘ Cliffy B. shares that his job as a lead designer is over. “At a certain point you’ve just got to let your baby get on the school bus and hope for the best,” his blog reads. However, he however did not mention any information regarding shipping or even the game’s status of gold.
After the joyous announcement, Cliffy B.’s entry became more interesting as he recalls the craziness of shipping a game and hopping on a plane for someplace warm, just to get away – a walk-out on work or life itself, if that is even possible. “I love being a part of this. I love the forum love as well as the hate, I love the studio ‘rivalries’ that gamers make up, I love my repetitive stress injuries,” shares the tired but satisfied designer.
Finally, his blog reveals that there would be a series of promotional events lined up for Gears of War, with a couple of them to be staged in Los Angeles. He reflects then on how Microsoft shifted gears after the success of Halo, stating then that, more than launching a game, the company is at overdrive in launching entertainment itself.
