World of Warcraft: LFG auto-join can’t be turned off

World of Warcraft - The Burning Crusade LFG tool - Image 1Now while disabling the “Auto-Join” feature is a standard operating procedure for you professional World of Warcraft group handlers, it probably crossed your mind that there should be an easier way to disable the Auto-Join option for good (or at least until the next re-install). Good news? Bad. There isn’t any way to keep Auto-Join disabled at all.

Why keep Auto-Join off? Well, because you don’t want to instantly join a group that happens to send you an invite your way. You might want to get to know the group and negotiate a few terms (loot wink wink) before jumping the gun. Unfortunately, if you forget to untick that little box, the LFG tool jumps the gun for you.

But what about the LFG feature of forcing you to join groups in a manner that keeps everyone balanced? Well, that’s only one good reason in a million possible bad ones, including instance jacking. And if you find that disabling the Auto-Join feature doesn’t stop you from automatically joining groups, you might want to inspect your installed mods. Some mods, like BGAssist, could impose their own Auto-Join feature.

Here’s a hope that the next fix includes preference options to turn that persistent option off, plus the new stuff that Blizzard promised.
